TRUCK GLOBAL EXPEDITION
Moscow – Yakutsk – Uelen – Seattle – Edmonton – Toronto –
New York –
London – Milan – Kaliningrad – Moscow.
The first round the world truck
expedition through Europe, Asia, North America, including
the Trans Russian section Moscow – Yakutsk – Uelen, which
has been never passed by any vehicle before. The expedition
is organized by the Adventure Club and is carried out on the
trucks "ZIL-433420", manufactured by AMO "ZIL" (Valery Nosov
is the General Director).
The expedition started on February
16, 2000 from the Manezhnaia Square of Moscow, from the "zero
kilometer" of the Russian highways. The Trans Russian section
of the route was accomplished on April 18, 2000 in the Uelen
settlement, Chukotka, situated at the coast of the Bering
Strait.
Thus, for the first time in
history, in the frames of the round the world truck expedition,
the team has passed the track Moscow – Yakutsk – Uelen with
the total duration 13000 km (out of them: 45% – highways;
15% – roads without pavement; 40% – winter roads). There are
no paved roads during the last 750 km of this route from the
Cape Schmidt to Uelen. The whole route Moscow – Yakutsk –
Uelen can be overcome by vehicles only during winter as part
of it goes through frozen rivers, marshes, a sea coast and
sea bays. The truck expedition has covered this route in 62
days.
In summer the trucks were
transported to the town of Anadyr, Chukotka, and in November
they were shipped by sea to Vladivostok. In the first half
of December the trucks will arrive in Seattle, USA, on the
ship "Anatoly Kolesnichenko".
The route will be continued
along the territory of the USA and Canada. From New York the
trucks would be shipped to the Old World. Further from London
and Milan ZIL trucks will return to Moscow from the west,
completing the round the world voyage.
