The Route.
Along
the Great Siberian River…
On July 19, 2004 the
participants of the expedition
took a flight from Moscow to Magadan. In Magadan they would
be hosted by Professor Arkady Maksimov, the Director of the
Arctic Scientific Centre of the Far East Branch of the Academy
of Sciences of the USSR.
The explorers will start their
expedition on August 1, 2004 at the place of confluence of
the Ayan-Yuryakh River and the Kyly – the source of the great
Kolyma River.
The first part of the route
will pass along the River. Thus, the explorers will use a
kayak and plan to reach the Yakutsky settlement Zyryanka,
where they will make a stop and wait till winter comes.
In winter 2004-2005 the explorers
will continue their route during the polar night along the
ice of the frozen River to the Chersky settlement, situated
at the mouth of the Kolyma River.
From Chersky the team will
fly back to Moscow. According to the schedule this will take
place in April, 2005.
